Re: 100 lbs of lutefisk in the freezer

August 27th 2021 EDT

According to the FDA:  "According to the USDA, frozen foods will keep indefinitely if stored in an airtight package at a constant temperature at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Freezing fish does not decrease its nutritional value. Freezer burn may dry the fish out in spots, but it is still safe to eat." I'm sure that best case is if it has been vacuum sealed; and it's pretty easy to to see if there is freezer burn. Hei,I am going to play devil's advocate here. I was thinking, is the fish from 2019 still safe to eat?Perhaps we should check with the fish company provider and the health department before we decide on anything. We don't want to make anyone sick! Takk,BarbaraOn Thu, Aug 26, 2021 at 10:15 PM Judy Purrington judypurrington@PROTECTED [Nordahl Grieg Officers] <officers@PROTECTED> wrote: __ From: judypurrington@PROTECTED It’s kind of too bad ...Continue Reading

Re: 100 lbs of lutefisk in the freezer

It’s kind of too bad we didn’t repackage it ourselves for the meal kits last year. I have a nice FoodSaver vacuum sealer that would have done the job in short order.Considering Freya is interested, I’d suggest offering it to them for half what we paid for it. Keeping it the freezer for another year would not be productive. That would be an excellent cost savings for Freya, yet a nice piece of change for Nordahl Grieg. Everybody wins!JudySent from my iPhoneOn Aug 25, 2021, at 12:20 PM, bruce@PRO ...Continue Reading
