Greetings All,
Normally our Scholarship Chair and Committee presents us with their recommendations for scholarships and we vote on this at a Lodge Business meeting. Since we do not have a Lodge Business meeting or Officers meeting scheduled and I'm about to head of to manage the District Six Language and Heritage Camps (Camp Trollfjell and Trollfjell Folkehøgskule), I would like to call for an email vote on the following request from the Scholarship Committee.
Please vote by forwarding this email to president@PROTECTED by 8:00PM, Friday, June 25 with "Yes" is you agree or "No" is you disagree with this request. Our Treasurer, Mike Block states that we have sufficient funds to grant these scholarships.
As a Lodge Trustee and the Scholarship Chair, I am reporting that I received scholarship requests from two applicants, both outstanding young women.They are:1. Nora Frost, sponsored by Lodge member, Sharee Frost. Nora attends American University in Washington D.C. and is studying to receive a B.A. Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies that includes Legal Institutions and Government, with a 3.9 GPA. She is further planning to attend law school.2. Isabel Williams, sponsored by Lodge member, Linniea Williams. Isabel attends Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon and is studying to receive a B.A. Degree in Psychology, with a 4.0 GPA. She is planning further study for a PhD in Psychology.The committee agreed to present a scholarship to each of them and to increase the amount from two years ago, since there were no applicants in June, 2020.Therefore, a scholarship in the amount of $750.00 is requested to be awarded to each of them.Submitted by Elaine Edwards, Vice President and Committee members, Shirley Shoup and Barbara Shoup
